Easy Weeknight Meals

AUTHOR:  My Food Bag and Nadia Lim

The moment we’ve anxiously been waiting for is finally here – Nadia Lim has released the first ever My Food Bag cookbook: ‘Easy Weeknight Meals’.

Containing 80 delicious, easy-to-follow recipes, the book was released into Whitcoulls stores on April 23rd and we’ve been drooling over the pages ever since. Featuring some of My Food Bag’s most top-rated dishes, ‘Easy Weeknight Meals’ offers a range of vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options on top of your typical recipes to ensure all-round satisfaction in the household.

What we particularly love is how the book itself is organised seasonally, with a list of recipes for spring, summer, autumn, and winter. This allows for customers to make the most of nature’s seasonal produce in their cooking; taking advantage of juicy tomatoes in the summertime, and creamy butternut in the winter.

With Nadia’s trusted history as a dietitian, and My Food Bag’s firm belief in the real food philosophy, we can be sure that the recipes in this cookbook are nutritionally balanced and easy on the taste buds – the ultimate food bible all year round!

Chloë Sevigny

AUTHOR:  Chloë Sevigny, Foreword by Kim Gordon, Afterword by Natasha Lyonne

We’ve always admired Chloë Sevigny from afar; from stalking her quirky, avant-garde fashion sense online, to watching her on the big screen. Now, the multi-talented fashion icon has released her very own book for Chloë admirers alike to gain an inside peek into how she’s arrived where she is today.

‘Chloë Sevigny’ is a deeply personal illustrated chronicle of the evolution of Sevigny’s unique style throughout her career: from a teenage skater girl to award-winning film actress and fashion designer.

We love how Chloë’s book features early personal photos of her, taken by high school friends, film stills, and even modelling appearances for brands such as Miu Miu and Chloé. The book even shares some of her treasured personal memorabilia, such as casting fliers, Polaroids, zines, and pages from her day planners, adding an extra personal touch to her story.

This volume will appeal to Chloë Sevigny fans across the globe and to fashion industry followers, as well as a mainstream audience who might find this book inspirational for their own wardrobe creations.

Selfish

AUTHOR: Kim Kardashian West

You’ve probably heard about Kim Kardashian’s volume release ‘Selfish’ – that is unless you’ve been somewhere other than civilisation over the last month. The hot-topic Book containing hundreds of Kim’s selfies made social media headlines within just minutes of its release, raising all sorts of discussion about the TV star’s intentions behind producing such a book.

Here at Remix however, we can’t help but feel as if this form of storytelling actually has the power to make readers feel as though they’re getting to know Kim on a personal level. The never-before-seen selfies of her getting sun burnt in Mexico, pulling faces with her family, and playing with a boxer named Rocky, may seem like bizarre content for a book, and as though they wouldn’t actually have much to contribute to actually telling a story. But the back-to-back selfies and correlating captions somehow manage to tell a story that really engages with readers in a whole new way.

‘Selfish’ invites us into a personal journey with the selfie queen herself, transporting us from Kim’s old school throw-backs to her current ultra-sexy glam shots. It provides readers with a unique, behind-the-scenes insight into how Kim’s life has changed over the years, making it an ideal ‘read’ for Kardashian fans everywhere.

Girl in a Band: A Memoir

AUTHOR: Kim Gordon

As one of the founding members of Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon has always been one of our favourite Rock star fashion icons. Now, Kim tells her story in ‘Girl in a Band’ – a touching memoir of life as an artist, of music, marriage, motherhood, independence, and as one of the first women of rock and roll.

Kim bares her soul to readers, taking them on a once in a lifetime journey through her entire existence as Kim Gordan. From telling stories of her experience growing up in California, Hawaii and Hong Kong, to revealing how an art project lead her to start up her first ever band back when she was studying.

We particularly love how Gordon magically transports us back in time to the lost New York of the 1980s and '90s, the years that gave rise to Sonic Youth and the Alternative revolution in popular music.

But at its core, ‘Girl in a Band’ takes readers on a heart-felt route along the challenging transition from girl to woman in an edgy, mesmerising tale. This book is worthy of a read from anyone who shares a passion for music, or simply shares an appreciation for this inspirational rock and roll icon.
