How the skills were developed
Where the skills were developed
Through assisting Isabelle in posting images from old Remix photo shoots and accurately tagging the stylists, makeup artists, brands, etc. I also assisted in writing the appropriate captions for these posts using Remix's voice
Through conducting phone calls and emails on behalf of the company, as well as posting magazines to stakeholders, collecting items needed for the office, and ordering clothes from photoshoots by brand before returning them
Through writing a number of articles with varied topics for the Remix website which often required no editing
These skills began developing during my time completing coursework, however they greatened through being assigned written tasks by Steven and Isabelle that were often around the 15-200 word mark. This required me to either condense masses of information or collect further data to create an angle for the assigned topic
This skill was developed after Steven began setting me deadlines for completing written work. He would often send me a written task out of the blue one day then request that I complete it before the day came to an end
I had to adapt to the Remix voice in my writing, but I also had to alter that voice to suit the topic. When I wrote about beauty products I used a feminine, bubbly tone, whereas with men's products I chose to write with a masculine edge to appeal to the target audience
This skill was learnt by sitting in on meetings held by CEO Tim Phin with the editorial team where plans for content in the next issue were discussed
This skill was learnt through searching for article content, contact information, designer labels, rising NZ talent, and more
This was learnt through attending a photoshoot for Remix magazine after collecting high-brand clothing items from different head offices around Auckland and selecting what items to pick up in order to suit the theme of the shoot
I gained this experience after Steven spontaneously assigned me 16 written tasks in one week to be completed ASAP. The topics ranged from beauty content to book reviews and a few things in between such as cafe reviews
This occured in the Remix office
These activities were mainly played out in the office but also required me to venture out to other head offices, post offices, stores, and radio stations
I often wrote the articles in the office, but I also wrote them from home after recieving a written task by Steven or Isabelle via email
These skills were gained at university, in the Remix office, and from home when completing written tasks sent to me from the Remix team via email
This skill was developed both in the Remix office, from home, from work, and from university. I often was assigned deadlines when I already had a full day. This required me to have my laptop on me everywhere I went
I learnt this in the office and from home, with the assistance from previous articles written by Remix magazine to guide my writing
This took place in the head office
This took place in the head office and from home
Collecting clothes occured all over Auckland, with key relationships built with Nick Von K, Grace from Zambesi, and the teams at Kate Sylvester, Ruby, Ciel PR and more. The shoot occured at Amber Peeble's (TV presenter) mother in law's house.
I completed these written pieces in the office, from home, at university and at work. I worked on these pieces anywhere I could to produce quality writing while still meeting deadline
When the skills were developed
During the first few weeks of my placement with Remix
I participated in these activities all throughout my placement, from the very beginning right through until the end
After the first week I began writing content for the Remix website on a regular basis, often up to three or four times a week
I would have mastered this skill in the third or fourth week of working with Remix
This skill began developing in the 3rd week of my placement with Remix after Steven assigned me my first ever deadline. As I became more advanced in this area, the deadlines became shorter and shorter.
This skill has developed throughout my entire time at Remix
This occured in week 8 of my placement
I participated in data collection after the first few weeks of my placement right up until the last days
This shoot occured in week 9 of my placement
I was assigned these written tasks in week 12, the week prior to deadline in the office for the next printed issue
