By the end of the INTERNSHIP course I will be able to…….
Be truly confident in the Remix working environment. For me, this will require the ability to adapt to their organisational structure and culture. This will help me understand how to balance formal and informal communication within the organisation, and to have confidence in my own abilities to perform to an exceptional standard within the workplace and to provide valuable input.
Reason for selecting the goal:
(Write a paragraph which explains why you feel you need to achieve this goal in your personal life)
I strongly believe that having smarts and skills within the workplace is not enough to go far in an industry, especially not in the communications industry. You need to be able to get along with co-workers, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and have knowledge of how to network. Also, the more likeable you are, the more likely it is for you to be offered new opportunities and to have your opinions valued. In order to do all of this successfully, it is necessary to be confident in every aspect of your career, socially and professionally.
Evaluation (Performance) Measures:

1. The amount of new contacts I have made (phone numbers, Facebook friends, etc.)
2. How often I engage in informal communication with people in the office on a daily basis
3. The number of events I have attended through Remix
4. The number of tangibles offered to me by staff members at Remix
5. The extent to which I feel socially comfortable with Remix staff at the end of my placement compared to when I first started
Strategies for achieving your Goal:
(Identify at least two activities you will do to help you achieve your goals)
1. Connect digitally with as many internal and external contacts (through Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
2. Make myself available for all informal gatherings by Remix staff
3. Go out of my way to exceed expectations, for example: completing more work than expected, or doing favours for staff that are not included in my job requirements
4. Study the cultural environment and attempt to replicate it
5. Exert confidence in my work and in myself as an asset to the company
My Professional Goal

By the end of the INTERNSHIP course I will be able to…….
Write in the Remix voice. By this, I mean that I will have fully adapted to their writing style, replicating the work of Steven and Isabelle combined.
Reason for selecting the goal:
(Write a paragraph which explains why you feel you need to achieve this goal in your professional life)
If I am to continue on the path of writing in my career, I think it is important to learn how to adapt to different writing styles because every organisation has their own voice, and it is key for that voice to be consistent across the entire organisation. I have never had to alter my writing style in the past, so I believe that learning this skill at Remix will help me to adapt to different writing styles/voices in future organisations. Also, if I manage to adapt to Remix’s writing style before the end of my placement, I will have more of a chance of either getting a job offer, or a great reference from them.

1. The work I send in compared to what they actually publish
2. Verbal feedback on writing quality and style
3. The written work I sent in near the end of my placement compared to the written work I sent in at the early stages of my placement
Strategies for Achieving your Goal:
(Identify at least two activities you will do to help you achieve your goals)
1. Critically analysing the changes that Isabelle and Steven have made to my published work and taking note of these for future written work.
2. Regularly reading posts made by Steven and Isabelle online, as well as the writing in previous printed issues in order to familiarise myself with Remix’s voice and to identify significant differences in my own writing style.
3. Constantly requesting feedback on my work from Isabelle and Steven in order to indicate whether my writing style is improving or not, and if not, where I am going wrong.
