Week #13

This has been my last week I’ve had my last few days with Remix, so this will be a short journal entry. I have completed three written pieces for Steven and Izzy, the first being a piece on Rick Owens shoes, the second being on Davines Essential Haircare, and the third being on Catroux Café.

I wasn’t provided any information to work with on the Rick Owens piece so I had to do my research to find something to write about. The Davines piece was almost second nature for me to write because it was about a new hair product line that was all about sustainable production. With all of my work on sustainability throughout my class, I knew exactly what terms to use to describe the new line. Using the discourse learnt in my course allowed for the piece to flow really well and sound very informed. As for the piece on Catroux café, I just summed up their menu and their plans for the future.

Isabelle invited me to a team lunch on the Thursday, as the June issue had been printed that day. I was very keen to be involved as it would likely be my last moment spent with the Remix crew. Unfortunately however, I have been very unwell to the point that I cannot seem to wake up in the mornings and face dizzy spells and week-long headaches when I do. I ended up sleeping through my alarms and missing the entire thing. I felt awful when I woke to messages from Isabelle and Steven asking where I was.

I plan to visit the office next week with a small gift for Steven and Isabelle to say thanks for all of their mentoring and the time they spent helping me as an intern with the company. I am very sad for this era to end, but I look forward to having more time on my hands to work for actual money, not going to lie. I plan to propose the idea of me still helping the team with online content for free in order to stay connected with the company and continue to meet important people within the media. For now however, I’m content with the experience I have gained and am thrilled with my overall involvement with Remix and look forward to seeing my work displayed in the June issue.
